AstraZeneca (AZN.US) covid vaccine is 75% effective against mutant viruses

On Friday, it was reported that the new crown vaccine, developed jointly by Oxford University and AstraZeneca (AZN.US), was 75 percent effective against the mutated strain found in Britain.
However, the findings are small and preliminary, and have not been formally reviewed by other scientists, the report said.

In a separate development, it emerged that Andrew Pollard, lead investigator of the Oxford vaccine trial, said that data from the Chadox1 vaccine trial in the UK showed that the AstraZeneca/Oxford New Crown vaccine could protect against not only the original virus but also the new variant B.1.1.7.

Shares of AstraZeneca fell more than 1 percent to $49.74 at the time of writing.
